Summary: What a gem! Staying at the Muntri Mews was like lodging in a 19th century cultural museum. The hotel is part of the George Town Heritage & Hotels group, and it was the second one of the group I have stayed in. The previous experience was good, but this one was outstanding. The room was actually a two-level suite, and perhaps a bit much for a solo traveler, with three king-size beds available, but the affable manager Linda gave me a small gift that she admitted was a bribe to make sure my wife made the trip should I return for the same event next year. Super nice! Because my flight arrived extremely late, I arrived at the Muntri Mews after midnight, but check-in was no problem. (I did use Hotels.com's messaging to make sure the hotel knew I was likely to be very late, but that doesn't always mean such a warm welcome would occur after midnight.) I did make a video to make sure my wife did see my accommodations, but the quality is too poor to post. I'll just say if I'm back in Penang I will definitely try to book the Muntri Mews again, though they only have a small number of rooms, so I would need to book early! The location in the historic UNESCO World Heritage area is also ideal, and there are excellent dining options with a range of restaurants and a lot of Penang's word-famous street food in the area.
